General info

Located a mere 3-minute stroll from the beach, this stylish, 10-room boutique hotel in the heart of Kaliasem, Lovina, welcomes guests with a breath of fresh air. Here, a contemporary design theme introduces fresh white walls accented with pops of colour, while the region’s rich heritage is celebrated with a collection of Indonesian artefacts.

Charmed by the melodic songs of the birds in the mango trees, visitors will be drawn towards a sunny central courtyard complete with a 15-metre lap pool, fed by stone-carved Balinese waterspouts and bordered by a wide timber deck.

The Room

Each elegant suite is accessed via its own private front door on the outside of the building, and each comprises a spacious and luxurious sleeping area adjoined by a private bathroom. Nine of the air-conditioned rooms are furnished with king-sized beds and one is furnished with twin beds, complemented by padded headboards, cushions and patchwork bedcovers crafted in local fabrics.

Each spacious ensuite bathroom is fitted with a walk-in glass-encased rainshower with a handheld option, a toilet, and a glass vanity unit supporting an oval washbasin. All ten suites and bathrooms are finished with tiled floors, while the walls are adorned with mirrors and artwork. Furnishings are an eclectic blend of modern comforts and time-honoured charm, including chairs, sofas, desks, ceramic pots and funky lamps. This picture of comfort is completed with floor rugs and top quality pillows, bed linens and towels. Each room is equipped with a flat-screen international-channel TV and DVD player, Wi-Fi Internet connection, a safe deposit box, hairdryer, kimonos & slippers.

The ground-floor rooms open to sheltered personal terraces with direct access to the timber pool deck, while the upstairs rooms open to a wide balcony blessed with mountain views.

The first of its kind in Lovina, the café pioneers a new concept in the neighbourhood, and is destined to become a north coast classic serving the best coffee in town. The menu offers a palate-pleasing range of Asian dishes, including Thai specialties, the signature Lovina salad, and Indonesia’s famous oxtail soup, known as ‘sop buntut’. Beer and wine is available, while a top-of-the-range coffee machine delivers everybody’s choice from espressos and long blacks to cappuccinos, lattes and flat whites.

This welcoming bright and airy space with its nostalgic ambience, features large windows on both sides and is furnished with circular tea tables and chairs, as well as a long banquet table under a high roof dripping with hanging Edison light bulbs. A striking feature is the bright and colourful marine-life mural, hand-painted on the main wall. Showcasing tropical fish, an octopus, seahorses, jellyfish, shells and starfish, as well as the dolphins for which Lovina has become so famous, it is certain to become an Instagram icon. Guests can spill outside into a Mediterranean-style pebble-floored garden furnished with tables, chairs and a picnic table, dotted with pagoda-shaped ketapang kencana trees, and embellished with plant pots and Balinese statues. Centrepiece is a terracotta ‘candi’ fountain – a replica from the Majapahit era, while the outside walls are decorated with a pair of ornate Torajan house panels from Sulawesi.
